We are incredibly lucky to have hundreds of amazing animal lovers that give their talent and time. Whether it is at our shelters, fundraising, fostering, TNR, or our thrift stores, our volunteers are making a real difference.
Come see for yourself why we’ve been voted as the Best Place to Volunteer in the Coast.
There are so many opportunities to get involved! Check them out below and submit your interest today. We can’t wait for you to join our SPCA family.
Let's get started! Some shelter activities (like scooping poop) are not very glamorous… but they are rewarding. In addition to animal care, our shelters need support with office admin, animal transport, greeting guests, and taking photos of adorable adoptables.
Requirements: 18+ years old, available for a long-term commitment, comfortable around animals of all breeds and sizes, enjoy working on a team, and compassionate customer service skills. In some cases, may need a driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Our social enterprise thrift stores accept a wide variety of goodies, giving our supporters another avenue to help the SPCA while in turn keeping these items out of landfills. We’ve big on second chances. 100% of proceeds help pets in need.
Requirements: friendly, enjoy working on a team, and available for at least one 3-5 hour shift/week. Frequently involves moving heavy boxes for various needs. Volunteers should be able to complete physical requirements with or without a reasonable accommodation.
With no government funding for our shelters, raising funds and awareness is extra important. We love having volunteer representation at events. The SPCA is also involved with several lifesaving projects, like Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR).
Requirements: comfortable accepting donations and talking to crowds for helping with events. For projects like TNR, many volunteers are needed for 3-5 days prior and after the surgery date. These roles usually involve being out in the community and can be physically demanding.
